There are 8 modules in the course. Topics are assessed via the four skills of Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. You will develop these skills further through a variety of activities involving the use of our “Active Learn” online subscription, up to date courses, our Sanako language lab and literary texts and films.
You will also be offered the opportunity to go abroad during your GCSE course – we offer study trips to KS4 French and Spanish groups and German students participate on the German exchange.
Assessment
We will be following the AQA GCSE course.
Students will be assessed in all four skills at either Foundation or Higher level:
- Listening 25%
- Reading 25%
- Speaking 25%
- Writing 25%
All skills will be assessed at the end of Year 11 and marked externally.
Other Information
Languages will offer you both a qualification and a skill for life! The course lays the foundation for further study in languages. It will give you a good advantage in the future whether you decide to go to university or not. Now that people travel extensively, knowledge of foreign languages is an asset. There is a strong chance that you will be offered a chance to study abroad as part of any degree course. Having studied a foreign language up to GCSE should put you in a better position to take part.
