Digital Systems & Data

Designed by OCR in collaboration with experts from across the sector, the V Level in Digital Systems & Data explores how technology and data are used to solve problems and support organisations. You will develop skills in working with data, understanding digital systems, recognising cyber security risks, and designing or configuring digital solutions. V Levels are Level 3 vocational qualifications that combine applied learning with sector knowledge, and this one is designed to be studied alongside your A-Levels. Its vocational focus is reflected in the assessment: 60% is non-exam assessment (coursework), a much larger proportion than in A-Levels that include a coursework element.

Over the two years of study, you will cover topics from the following areas: Understanding digital systems, security & support - Working with data and protect information - Design, develop or configure digital solutions. The study of these topics can provide you with excellent transferable skills in analysing evidence, solving problems, explaining decisions and communicating with users.

You do not need to have studied Computer Science, IT or iMedia to undertake this course. It has a completely different focus to A-Level Computer Science meaning the two could be taken together.
