We are living in the digital age where almost everything we do or talk about will involve elements of media. Yet, have you ever considered why you see the things you see?
Over the course of two years, we will explore how modern media have become a major force in our lives, a juggernaut driven by human behaviour and technology. You will explore how it has moved faster than research, legislation and the societal norms of its time.

By the end of Year 13, you will be ready for success at all stages of your life beyond post-16. Exciting careers focused on Media may include advertising, producing, directing, marketing and journalism. Media has shaped our past and present, and will continue to contribute to the world’s future.
Course content
Paper 1: Media One (35%)
In Paper 1, you will study how media texts from adverts and music videos to newspapers and radio ΜΆ construct meaning and reflect wider social contexts. You’ll learn how to analyse media language, understand representation, and explore how industries target and attract audiences. You'll study a range of set products called Close Study Products (CSPs).
Paper 2: Media Two (35%)
Paper 2 focuses on more in-depth analysis of CSPs including television, online media, magazines and video games. You’ll explore how media reflects and influences society and culture, how platforms operate, and how audiences interpret texts. This paper challenges you to think critically about modern digital media.
NEA: (30%)
For the NEA, you’ll respond to a brief by creating your own original media product. This might be a magazine, social media campaign, film marketing package or music video. You'll plan, design and produce your content, accompanied by a written Statement of Intent that outlines your creative decisions and target audience.
