The West Bridgford School

END OF AN ERA FOR OUR POPLARS

We have some truly sad news about a landmark element of the school site. For many people, when you ask them to describe where the school is, they say ‘On Loughborough Road, half way down the hill, with the huge Poplar trees out the front.’.

It is these Poplars that we will be saying goodbye to in a few short weeks’ time. We have been steadily losing one or two a year to high winter winds and, after a professional survey, they have now been deemed unsafe and past their natural life-span. As such, over a period of several months they will be brought down and removed from site for recycling. How-ever, we have also engaged a firm to help choose replacement trees to be planted across the whole of the Loughborough Road frontage, and ensure that a new generation of students will have their own trees to identify with the school.
