The West Bridgford School

Gardening Club

The school Gardening Club are proud to announce that we have just received our certificate congratulating us on our Level 3 RHS School Gardening Award.

To gain this we had to submit evidence to the RHS and write about a project we have been
doing in the school garden. We described our allotment area and our donations of produce to a local
charity (the Friary), which included a huge pumpkin, aubergines, tomatoes, onions, garlic and Jerusalem artichokes.

As our prize for gaining this award we will receive three deliveries, one each term, of fruit and veg plug plants ready for planting in the raised beds. It’s going to be a busy spring, as we are also awaiting another delivery of trees from The Woodland Trust to add to our hedge area.

The new year is a wonderful time to reflect and make new resolutions. Why not pledge to plant a tree or grow some veg in 2020? Gardening Club is taking a short break for a few weeks over the winter, but we are looking forward to the time when we can get digging and planting again. Any
new members are very welcome to come along – learn new skills and enjoy being in the garden!
