English Literature
The course involves the study of a variety of different texts such as novels, collections of poetry, short stories and drama (including Shakespeare). Some of these texts will be from other cultures, some by modern authors, while others will be by pre-twentieth century writers. You will be expected to write about, discuss and perform your ideas on these texts in similar, if more demanding, ways to how you work on a class reader at Key Stage 3.
The texts we cover are as follows:
- Macbeth by William Shakespeare
- A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
- Animal Farm by George Orwell
- AQA Poetry Anthology (Power and Conflict)
Assessment
