Business Studies
A-Level Business involves the study of how businesses operate, make decisions, and respond to internal and external influences. It helps students understand the real-world functioning of businesses from small start-ups to large global corporations.
You will learn about the 4 functional areas of business; Finance, Operations, Marketing and Human Resources, how these departments function, work collaboratively and the challenges they face as the business grows.
The course has been specifically written so that students gain knowledge of business in a range of contexts including national and global companies as the A Level progresses.

Course content
The assessment is through three exams at the end of the two years, testing the students’ knowledge across 4 themes.
Theme 1: Marketing & People. The first unit looks at the challenges of starting a new business and the notion of what makes an entrepreneur. Meeting Customer Needs, The Market, Marketing Mix, Leadership and Recruitment
Theme 2: Managing Business Activities. Students develop their understanding of how a business grows and will consider factors such as: Operations, Stock Control, Quality Management, Resource Management, Raising Finance
Theme 3: Business Decisions & Strategy. Students will develop to an evaluative level the importance in strategy management of Business Objectives, Business Growth, Decision Making, Managing Change
Theme 4: Global Business. Students will draw together an integrated understanding of the business environment and understand the importance of managing change, Globalisation, Trade, Global Markets, Ethics in Business
You need to be someone who is interested in the world, understand that the business world is dynamic and see how technology has become an opportunity and a threat to businesses.
