Show Racism The Red Card 2017

IMAG1679In February, we launched SRtRC - a national competition for schools to explore the topic of race equality and the impact of racism on individuals and communities, in a creative way. We were delighted to have over 100 pieces of work submitted for judging; from paintings, creative writing, multi-media, models and even a cake!

As we could only submit six pieces of work, one for each category, our team of student and staff judges had the difficult task of judging all pieces entered. It was tough selecting as there were so many incredibly thought-provoking and visually stunning pieces of work. However, we got there in the end and sent our entries off just before the Easter holiday.

At the beginning of this term we received GREAT news from the SRtRC team informing us students from our school had not only won oneā€¦but three categories out of the six! This was beyond what we could have ever expected, particularly given this is a national competition.

So, in follow up, our winning team are looking forward to attending the Awards Ceremony next week where they will enjoy a fun afternoon with entertainment and Gareth Southgate, England football manager, will present all winners with their well-deserved award. We will update you with some pics and news about the event.

Once again, I would like to thank all parents and carers who support our work linked to culture and diversity. It really does make a difference in our school community; a place where every student has the right to feel safe, included, happy and accepted for who they are as well as playing their own part in helping others feel this too.

SRtRCHuge congratulations to our winners:
