It’s back! The West Bridgford School swimmers are going to take on the mighty English Channel for their sport relief challenge, alongside the legendary run.
The challenge is to swim the distance of the English Channel in the West Bridgford swimming pool. The distance that we have to cross is 21 miles or in our pool, that equates 1680 lengths! It is 80 lengths for 1 mile in our pool.
The proposed plan is for the swimmers to swim in their B PE lesson. They will have an hour to see how many lengths they can swim; in return they hope to raise sponsorship for this great cause. It is individual to each person, it could be that 20 lengths is a challenge for them, it could be 100 + lengths. Whatever, the distance, it all counts and helps us to take on the mammoth task of swimming the channel.
All years, from year 7 to sixth form will try and take on the challenge including staff!
In the last Swim the channel challenge we had one keen sixth form who managed to swim 222 lengths! Who dares to compete with that? We saw the likes of National Swimmer Katie Henderson take on the challenge but can she do more 2 years later. Our fantastic, keen and inspirational swimmers are all geared up and ready!
But who dares win in the battle, The West Bridgford School or The Might English Channel!
Let’s get sponsoring and support our swimmers!
The allocated times for pupils to swim can be seen underneath, for a sponsorship form, please see Miss Fletcher.
