Mrs A Sharpe – Director of Learning – Year 11
2014 saw another fabulous year for the children of West Bridgford School. The students with a swathe of top grades often grab the headlines in articles such as this. This year 27 of our students managed to attain 10 A-A* grades in their GCSE’s, an outstanding achievement, brought about though dedication and hard-work. However the whole year group was awash with success stories. The school sixth form remained the preferred destination for our students and the majority of those who wanted to remain with us achieved the 3 x B and 2 x C entry requirement to allow them to study in the Post-16 Centre. The impact of help and support from the school Intervention Centre cannot be underestimated. Many students who faced real challenges in their lives have managed to achieve C and above grades after targeted intervention and help from staff. To our knowledge every student has now secured a place to continue their education at Post-16. For instance all of our students who attended the level 2 Motor Vehicle Course at College achieved a pass grade and many of them are now taking further industry approved qualifications next year.School life marches on however and my attention is now firmly on the new Year 11. 17th September is Action at 16+ Day and students will begin to plan their futures with a real idea of the grades they will need to move onto life after school. 25th September is Year 11 Intervention Evening where parents will be advised on how best to support their children in the coming crucial year. I look forward to working in partnership with you this year and celebrating your children’s success in 2015.
