Following a detailed bidding process we are pleased to announce that we have been accredited as a School Centred provider of Initial Teacher Training (SCITT). The West Bridgford School are only the second Nottinghamshire School to have been successful in gaining this accreditation. The SCITT, which will be known as The East Midlands Teacher Training Partnership, presently has 14 partnership schools from within Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, including Primary, Secondary and Special schools. The partnership also includes the University of Nottingham. The success of our bid is very exciting for all of our partner schools. It puts us at the forefront of Initial Teacher Training and we will now work as hard as possible to provide an excellent setting for trainee teachers to develop into high quality practitioners.
The East Midlands Teacher Training Partnerships will be receiving applications from Autumn 2014 and successful applicants will begin their teacher training in September 2015. Trainee teachers, as well as gaining Qualified Teacher Status, will also be able to access a Post Graduate (PGCE) qualification and 60 credits at Masters level.
