All the Kings Men

Miss Dean, the enigmatic drama teacher, presided over the school’s presentation of All the Kings MenRichard Rodney Bennett’s “All The King’s Men” and I was fortunate enough as a recently turned 13 year old to be handed a key role of Dr Chilllingworth. Much fun was had in the rehearsals and during the 3 performances and as a teenager I remember being quite impressed by the musical abilities of my school friends. I note Mr Clemence duetted on piano and I was pleased to read this as he was such a great music teacher who  encouraged me greatly.

On the first performance near disaster struck as King Charles himself was ill and did not appear, leaving the mighty Miss Dean to tread the boards in his stead and what a great job she did.

West Bridgford history

A very timely and certainly poignant piece of West Bridgford history fell into our laps during Remembrance week at school. Our very first foray into the archive to start the seriously huge task of digitising the collection began with 2 willing and interested A level History students scanning the OWBF Magazines and what should be left in the box on its own but the page below.WBA1

A moving reminder of what we owe to our former friends and colleagues, the loose page is a fitting example of the legacy we intend to establish on the new WB Alumni site; as we try to learn from the past, so we can move into the future.

We imagine the page is from 1945 but would be enormously interested inverification of that and, of course, any details about the individuals mentioned here – do get in touch.
